About Us
Welcome to Key Ranches — the home and heart of Brad & Dr. Lacey Fahrmeier in Roberts, Montana. Our ranch is rooted in family, hard work, and a shared passion for livestock, the land, and the western way of life.
Who We Are
Brad Fahrmeier
Brad is the driving force behind the day-to-day ranching operations. From managing cattle to maintaining the land, he embodies the grit and dedication that ranch life requires. Brad’s expertise is hands-on: working livestock, baling hay, keeping equipment running, and ensuring the ranch runs smoothly through every season.
Dr. Lacey Fahrmeier
Lacey is a veterinarian whose professional work focuses on food animal health and supporting rural ranching communities. Her veterinary background adds a unique strength to the ranch, blending scientific expertise with everyday animal husbandry. She is passionate about both the care of livestock and the wellbeing of the ranching families who raise them.
Together, we combine Brad’s boots-on-the-ground ranching with Lacey’s veterinary knowledge to create a balanced and sustainable approach to livestock and land stewardship.
Our Philosophy & Ranching Practice
At Key Ranch, ranching is more than work — it’s a responsibility.
- Animal Care: Every animal is handled with respect and raised with health and wellbeing as the top priority.
- Sustainability: We take pride in caring for the land that feeds our livestock, using practices that keep our pastures healthy for generations to come.
- Community: Montana ranching is built on neighbors helping neighbors, and we are proud to support our local community in both ranching and veterinary circles.
Our Story
Our journey to Roberts, Montana, reflects a shared dream: to build a life around cattle, horses, and the wide-open spaces of the Beartooth front. Brad grew up with a deep connection to livestock and ranch work, while Lacey pursued veterinary medicine and continues to serve the ranching community.
Here on our ranch, we’ve combined those paths into a family operation that reflects who we are: practical, hard-working, and deeply grateful for the life we live.
What We Raise
We proudly raise Angus cattle — known for their consistency, quality, and flavor. Our cattle are born and raised right here in Carbon County, with careful attention to nutrition, health, and humane handling.
Our beef doesn’t just stay on the ranch — it’s shared with the community through the Red Lodge Cafe in Red Lodge, Montana, where locals and visitors alike can enjoy the taste of ranch-to-table Angus beef raised on Montana grass and finished with care.
Looking Ahead
Our goal is simple: to raise healthy livestock, care for our land, and pass on a way of life that we believe matters. Every day brings new challenges, but also new reasons to be thankful for the ranching lifestyle here in Montana.
